Women's BJJ Classes

Women-only Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (16+) — practical self-defense in an all-women room, Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Black belt instruction. First class free.

Ages 16+

If you have thought about learning self-defense but pictured a room full of men and decided not to — this class was built for you. The Women’s Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class at Gracie Barra Georgetown is women-only, every single session.

The framing here is empowerment, not fear. The class is not about selling you alarm. It is about building genuine capability and composure — the quiet confidence that comes from knowing you would actually know what to do.

It teaches the techniques that matter most for real self-defense: frames to create space, escapes from common bad positions, and distance management to stay safe before a situation ever reaches the ground. These work regardless of size or strength. That is the entire point of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Instruction comes from black belt staff, and the class assumes no experience at all. A complete beginner from Wolf Ranch, downtown Georgetown, or the Sun City Texas community can walk in on a Tuesday and follow along from the first minute. Every training partner is also a woman, often a fellow beginner working through the same material at the same pace.

The class meets Tuesday and Thursday evenings, 6:15 to 7:15, at the academy on Williams Drive near Wolf Ranch Parkway. It is open to women and teen girls 16 and up, and it follows the official Gracie Barra curriculum — the same system taught at more than 1,000 academies worldwide.

The first class is free, with no contract for the trial. Wear comfortable athletic clothes, bring a water bottle, and arrive a few minutes early on a Tuesday or Thursday. Call or text (737) 298-2780 to reserve a spot.
