Adult BJJ Classes
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for adults and teens (13+), built for beginners — black belt instruction, classes morning to evening, and a free first class.
Ages 13+
Almost everyone in the adult class at Gracie Barra Georgetown started exactly where you are: no grappling experience, a little unsure, wondering if they were too out of shape or too old to begin. They were not. Neither are you.
Here is what makes Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu different from the treadmill you have quit before. It is often called physical chess — a problem-solving art where leverage, timing, and technique beat size and strength. You are not grinding through a workout. You are learning a skill, and that keeps it interesting long after motivation runs out.
The class follows the official Gracie Barra curriculum — the same structured system taught at more than 1,000 academies worldwide. Every position is introduced in order, drilled at a controlled pace, and built on the week before. Professor Fabio Villela, a Gracie Barra black belt, leads the room and sets its tone: calm, technical, and ego-free.
Live training is always matched to the partners on the mat, so a beginner is never thrown in over their head. That is why the class works for such a wide range of people — a Sun City Texas retiree in the morning, a downtown Georgetown professional on a lunch break, a teenager building confidence after school.
What keeps adults coming back is the progression. The Gracie Barra belt-and-stripe system turns months of training into visible milestones, and the room becomes part of the week — training partners look out for each other. Classes run morning, lunch, and evening at the academy on Williams Drive near Wolf Ranch Parkway.
The first class is free — no contract, no card on file for the trial. Wear a t-shirt and shorts or athletic pants; everything else is provided for a first visit. Call or text (737) 298-2780 and pick a class time that works.
